Infant Positioning for Play

Winchester Hospital’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Services offers treatment and education for two common, often related conditions that can affect babies:

• Torticollis happens when muscles on one side of the baby’s neck become tightened.
• Plagiocephaly occurs when one side of the back of the baby’s head becomes flattened. Typically, this is related to the child favoring one side or positioning on that side.

Our therapists work with babies to correct issues and teach parents how to:

• Avoid plagiocephaly and torticollis
• Encourage normal development
• Maximize tummy time
