Inpatient Visitors

Inpatient Visitor Age

We allow visitors as young as 7 years old to see patients in the hospital. Children younger than 6 years old are allowed to see a parent or sibling in the hospital when accompanied by an adult.

Obstetric Units

Mothers in our Labor & Delivery units may have two continuous support people during labor and childbirth. Your labor support person must be at least 12 years old.

You are allowed:

  • One labor support person to stay with you as you transition to the postpartum unit.
  • A second visitor to join you in the postpartum unit only during regular visiting hours.
  • If you need care in the operating room, one support person may stay with you, depending on clinical circumstances.

No additional visitors are allowed.

In the Mother Baby Unit

One support person or visitor may stay with you overnight, if space allows.

Two visitors, plus your support person may visit between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Pediatric patients are allowed up to two visitors at any time. A parent or legal guardian must accompany a visiting child.

Emergency Department

If you come to our Emergency Department for care, two escorts, family members or support persons can stay with you. Your visitors can remain with you throughout your visit.

Patient Escorts

If you’re coming to Winchester Hospital for an outpatient appointment or procedure, you are allowed one escort and one visitor. Escorts must be free of COVID-19 symptoms or recent exposure.
