Choosing a Primary Care Provider

Choosing a primary care provider can be challenging. At Beth Israel Lahey Health, we make it easy to find a provider who meets your needs.

When choosing a provider, consider the following:

  • Area of practice. What is the doctor's specialty? For example, do they practice family medicine or internal medicine?
  • Special expertise. Does the doctor have advanced training or expertise in a particular area, such as caring for chronic conditions?
  • Location. Is the doctor available in a location convenient to where you live or work? Having a doctor nearby can help you build a long-term relationship, which is key to good health.
  • Hours and availability. Does the doctor have a range of hours and availability? Do you want a practice that offers evening and weekend hours?

Winchester Hospital also has a provider referral line available 24 hours a day to help you find the right doctor. Call 1-866-946-4677 to find a doctor.
