Muni Family’s Generous Gift Transforms Winchester Hospital’s Wilmington Medical Center
Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates Renovated Muni Family Medical Center
Winchester, MA – On October 30, Winchester Hospital hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly named Muni Family Medical Center in Wilmington, marking the completion of extension renovations to the medical facility made possible by a landmark philanthropic gift from the Muni family. Hospital leadership, staff and the Muni family and friends gathered to mark the milestone.
“Over the last 40 years, Winchester Hospital has felt like home,” said former Winchester Hospital Board member Indu Muni. “My wife worked here and often brought our sons along. We’ve been part of this community as both patients and employees. To us, this is not a donation or a gift; it's a family contribution.”
The Muni family’s connection to Winchester Hospital is deep and long-standing. Indu and Gita Muni have supported the hospital since 2016, including a 2022 renovation of the Winchester Hospital cafeteria. Indu served on the hospital’s Board of Trustees; Gita worked in the Muni Family Medical Center’s laboratory; and their son, Sheel Muni, has served in Food Services for more than 20 years. Continuing this legacy, their son Neal Muni, MD, MSc, joined the Board of Trustees on October 1.
Hospital leaders thanked the Muni family for their longstanding support. “We are grateful to the Muni Family for their generosity and enduring commitment to our mission,” said Tim Jones, MBA, FACHE, Interim President of Winchester Hospital. “Their support continues a long tradition of community partnership that defines Winchester Hospital.”
Looking ahead, Matthew Hinkle, MHA, BSN, RN, Chief Operating Officer at Winchester Hospital, said, “The Muni Family Medical Center renovations will reimagine how we deliver care, with spaces designed to better support patients, families and the caregivers who serve them. This project represents a significant investment in the future of community health.”
For 25 years, the Muni Family Medical Center has served as a pillar of care for surrounding communities. With this modernization, made possible through philanthropy, it is poised to continue that mission for decades to come.
