Winchester Hospital Achieves Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence
Magnet Recognition is The Highest National Honor for Nursing Care
Winchester, Mass. – Winchester Hospital has achieved its 5th Magnet recognition as a reflection of its nursing professionalism and high-quality patient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence.
Fewer than 10% of healthcare organizations in the United States have earned Magnet recognition. Winchester is one of 15 hospitals in Massachusetts to earn this designation.
Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence. The foundation of this model comprises various elements deemed essential to delivering superior patient care. These include the quality of clinical care and leadership and coordination and collaboration across specialties, as well as processes for measuring and improving the quality and delivery of care.
“Receiving Magnet redesignation reflects the commitment Winchester Hospital has to providing superior patient care,” said Al Campbell, MBA, FACHE, RN, president, Winchester Hospital. “This achievement reinforces the culture of excellence that is a cornerstone of how we serve our community.”
“I am honored that we have achieved this 5th designation. Winchester Hospital has a longstanding commitment to delivering care in line with best practices and the highest quality standards. I am very proud to be surrounded by such remarkable colleagues whose efforts across the course of many years have resulted in this 5th designation said Karen Keaney, MPAH, ACHCE, NEA-BC, RN, chief nursing officer, Winchester Hospital. “Our clinical teams are compassionate and committed professionals who care for our patient’s health, comfort and safety and are making our community healthier one patient at a time.”
In 2003, Winchester Hospital became the first community hospital in Massachusetts to earn this prestigious achievement.
